Praise the Author of the Seasons!

The work of translating the Bible into a new language, like the seasons of the year, changes over time. The Kwakum translation project hit a milestone in January. It has now entered a new and very exciting season! Five years ago, Dave and Stacey Hare began the process of telling 44 Old Testament Bible Stories in the Kwakum language. These stories are not literal translations; they are more like the kind of story that we in the west would give our emerging readers. Our hope is that they will serve as a foundation for teaching the Kwakum people about their need for and God’s provision of a Savior. These are also the stories that David will be working to illustrate.

We are EXCITED to say that the translation team has drafted the last of the 44 stories! There is still a lot of editing left to do before the stories are finished and collated into a Story Bible. And while we are not able to do the illustrations until we are released to full-time ministry, it’s exciting to see how much progress has been made.

Even more exciting…the team is now ready to begin drafting the first of the verse-by-verse New Testament Bible TRANSLATIONS!

Please join with us in praying:

  • That the translation team will be able to create faithful scripture translations as they begin this new phase.
  • That the final editing of the Old Testament Storybook would go well, and that the final book will be accepted by the Kwakum.
  • That through these stories they would see their place in God’s story of the creation, fall, redemption, and restoration of mankind.
  • That God would use these stories to plant seeds of desire for the Hope of the Gospel in the lives of the Kwakum villagers.
